The Journey Begins

The Journey Begins is considered the only canon "Volume 0". For other uses, see Volume 0.

The Journey Begins is a short special-edition manga chapter that was drawn by Hiromu Arakawa and exclusively released in Japan as a bonus for theatergoers for the live-action film. Its cover has no title aside from the usual Fullmetal Alchemist logo, but it also designates itself as Volume 0, leading to it sometimes being colloquially known as Fullmetal Alchemist 0.

Synopsis[]

A 12 year old Edward Elric has just passed the State Alchemist exam and is congratulated by military members. He then departs with Alphonse on their journey. Elsewhere, Shou Tucker has failed the exam, but will try again next year.
