Can you help by making Amestris seem as real and simple to explain without the extras until later.

I need your knowledge as well. The knowledge of others and promotions help too.

The title of the series is Fullmetal Alchemist, not Full Metal Alchemist. The name "Fullmetal" is one word, not two. (If you don't believe me, see the official site, the Wikipedia article, the Adult Swim website, etc.) Every time the show is mentioned on this wiki, the title is typed incorrectly. This should be corrected by anyone who is able to edit the main page. I'm planning on fixing it everywhere else. --Michaelbillings 19:41, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

FMA is the best anime I have ever seen! Inuyasha is ok, but FMA is WAY better! More interesting things happening and an easier story-line to follow. When it comes to FMA, I have seen every episode but the last one. I havent seen it yet, so no one ruin it for me ok?

I was thinking...we should find or make a logo for the wiki. it really looks boring, and even if it's the anime logo, anything would be better than the Wikia logo we have now. Perhaps a vote, people can enter pictures and vote on them? just an idea...

Featured Article

Can someone change the featured article on the main page? It gets boring after seeing the previous ones (which are all Edward Elric). Waterdrop95 17:41, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, I think after Edward being article of the month four times in a row, I think someone or something else should be put on. I'd change it myself, but I cant. Is it possible or does an admin have to do it? The stooge 01:50, 17 August 2009 (UTC)The Stooge

Why has the featured arcticle been the same for over three years? More specifically, why is it Hitler? Like make it the panda or something. (ShelbyMaireH8rXD (talk) 20:16, August 10, 2018 (UTC))

I have been to several wikia sites such as Bleach and Naruto and they are updated every week, I come to this site a couple of times and notice it needs to be updated alot. Here is a suggestion, could the characters that appear in both the 2003 anime and the 2009 anime have seperate articles with biographys from the storylines? Also, I notice that Edward has been the article of the month for the longest time now, we should pick a new character each month for a new article.

Gunsolkyle 11:29, 18 July 2009 {UTC}

Agreed, but now Lan Fan (AKA, the article of 3 months+ holder) is the problem, not to mention there are characters that appear in the anime that still have manga pictures, one is Alchemist doctor. --|WhiteArmor|(Talk)|-- 21:16, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

I tried to get a nice image of the doctor but there are only shots of him with his head down and a close-up of his face which is quite scary. I try to replace images as much as I can (I only have a few selected episodes downloaded), but for him we'll have to wait until his next appearance (and it's quite soon). Kiadony 05:13, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Well I understand what you're saying, I was convinced that not much work got done here, Narutopedia still uses a manga picture for the Valley of Clouds and Lightning, even though it's out in the anime, because it's a better shot. Though something should still be done about the slowness of the Article of the Month selection. -WhiteArmor-(Talk)- 18:26, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

The sight has come a long way since I first requested this to be updated and it's actually pretty good, but one thing I thought of was, if there were two articles of each characters. For Example, Edward Elric (2003), Edward Elric (2009). That way both articles could have a full bio and pics from each series. 6:21. May 10, 2010.

No, such a thing would create far too much confusion and redundancy, since (especially in Edward's case) characters like that are very much the same in either series. If you feel like each page doesn't contain enough information about the 2003 series, feel free to add more; the profile sections are already written to be neutral to the divergence between the two anime series and focus mostly on what was the same between both, but the story sections only lack information from the 2003 anime because I don't remember very much about it. For those sections, the most I'll probably be able to do is proofread for grammar, spelling and syntax. Once the 2003 anime sections of each page start filling out, there will surely be enough room for images from the earlier series. CorbeauKarasu 01:34, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

FMA Continuity

Hi I would like to ask if which among the ff. is set in the manga universe and which ones are set in the anime universe:
-light novels

-video games

-trading card games

-drama CD's

-art and guidebooks

Also, is the first anime series set in the same universe as the "Brotherhood" series?

This tip is good for ANY manga/anime. The only thing that is EVER considered canon is the original copy, I.E. the manga. Exceptions can be made, such as the Emperor of Shambala, which is a continuation of the series. As for Brotherhood, that's gonna take some explaining.

The manga was nowhere near finished when the 2003 anime first aired and naturally they caught up. Since the universe wouldn't work very well for fillers, they people working on it decided to take it in their own direction. For the first few episodes it remains accurate, then diverges into it's own path, with it's own plot points and characters that never existed in the manga, such as a man who's left half of his body is automail. The manga finished around March of '09 and a new anime came out the more faithfully followed the manga.

Kid, the manga is about brotherhood not regular FMAAnyaFuijiwara 02:28, April 18, 2012 (UTC)AnyaFujiwara

Chapter vs. Episode

In articles, which should we use, the chapter number or episode number? --DARK 05:34, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

I think Chapter numbers are better, since the episodes are based off of them and the split between anime series might cause confusion. But that's not to say that using episode numbers is "wrong" per se. CorbeauKarasu 05:47, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

This should be obvious. List BOTH of them. More information is always accepted and less information is never helpful 08:38, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Specified Chapter Information

Regarding points in the story as well as ALL OF THE TRIVIA, I feel it would be highly helpful to include citation data like the actual wikipedia does. Often I come to fan-wikis and find curious information with absolutely no mention of which episode or chapter the information was cited from; something that fustrates me because I would like to revisit the chapter in which said information was dispersed.

For example on Edward Elric's personal data page, one the first points of trivia data mentions that Edward writes his alchemic notes in the form of travelogue, and that's it. No mentioning if that was from an omake or within a chapter of the story. As of today there are EXACTLY ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN chapters out, both in Japan and scanlated in the U.S.A. To find that exact piece of information on my own with not even a hint of where it came from, would take hours of personal effort, something I do not desire to take just to find a single tidbit of information.

What I am suggesting is that EVERY MEMBER OF THIS WIKI take a personal initiative to cite key information whenever they can; something that will make this wiki stand far beyond the others. I mean some fan-wikis don't even bother to state the first appearance of a character! As for me I will act upon my advice and do my best to cite information, BUT ONLY IF you(the main staff) approve of my request and idea. Thank you for taking your time to read this

New poll

Who wrote this? Can someone change "Winery" to "Winry"?Tommy-Vercetti 20:56, September 26, 2010 (UTC)

Change to Oasis

Since the talk for the skin change took up a significant part of this page, I put all the topics together. If you have a topic that you think has to do with the skin, you can put it here, but please move any irrelevant topics (irrelevant to Oasis, all topics are relevant) to the bottom of the page if you realize they don't have to do with the new format. Thanks.--Fullmetal Fan 03:11, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

New Format

What exactly is going to change when wikia brings in the new changes? I just saw the video and the skin appears to be changing (and I think you can turn it off), but I don't know about anything else. If it does something stupid like making us use Rich Text, I swear I will lose it.--Full Metal Fan 20:51, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, all that changed was the skin, but you can go into your profile and change it. The new format is HIDEOUS.--Full Metal Fan 13:56, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

--Fullmetal Fan 18:03, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

I am working on fixing the skin. It will take a lot of time so bear with me. KingLinkTiger 20:36, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

While not as good as the the old skin, this new colour scheme is a lot better than the white one. One problem I see is that the red links make every link look like it's broken. Just something to consider.--Fullmetal Fan 01:19, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

What about the infoboxes? I mean, why are the empty lines showing when they shouldn't? Or am I the only one seeing it? Kiadony 11:28, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I still see the plain old monobook one. Red and white.--Tommy-Vercetti 16:18, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I see what you did with the new wikia look... but I just cannot use that.

Its layout is BEYOND awful. Is it possible to also fix up monobook as well?--Tommy-Vercetti 17:26, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'll change the color of the links. Is there anything else. They changed the entire way of changing the theme so I can't change as much as before. I don't even know hot to change the gray/blue background. KingLinkTiger 18:00, November 6, 2010 (UTC) P.S. I reverted the link color back to blue for now.

But Monobook is still the same. Don't tell me it's impossible to change it.

Great, ugly color scheme, or a good color scheme with godawful layouts. It's lose/lose.--Tommy-Vercetti 18:52, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I know the gang at have managed to put a custom background in place of the blue-gray background we have on the new wiki style. I feel like I've seen a modification of the Monobook option, but I can't remember where atm. I guess New Wiki is the default style for visitors and new people coming in, though.CorbeauKarasu 19:12, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

There has to be a default way to making monobook default. I go to so many wikis that have that default for visitors.--Tommy-Vercetti 21:05, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Can everyone see how the blue-grey background is black now, or is that just me? CorbeauKarasu 15:15, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

And now, how about the return to KingLingTiger's kickass background scheme? If it's visible, then I've figured out how the New Wiki lets admins alter the site's layout. Monobook is still a mystery to me, though. I almost want to say I'm torn, because, while plain black made the New Wikia layout look more spacious, having the red flamel tile back feels like home. ^^ If my edits are, in fact, visible, I'm wondering about the link colors. I liked the red links, since they went with the theme of the series (black and red being two of the principle colors) but, then, blue is pretty good, too, since it was what we had before. In addition, with the red flamels back, red links might be unecessary and gaudy-looking, plus Tommy's assertion that they make every link look broken. Maybe I should just drop it, but what are everyone's thoughts on gold links? Or is blue perfectly fine? CorbeauKarasu 15:48, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Yay! It looks great. Butbutbut what about infoboxes? Kiadony 16:05, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Sadly, I have no idea. At first I thought you meant the coloring of the boxes, which made all normal text inside the boxes illegible, but I fixed that. But I realize now that you mean the empty boxes that keep showing up. The current code keeps them invisible in Monobook, which worries me because it means that the same code works differently depending on which system is being used to view the site. I was only able to change the theme because of the "Tools" box placed in the bottom right corner of admin pages, but the infoboxes, I assume, will require a greater understanding of code, for which I think I'd have to defer to KingLinkTiger. The episode and chapter infoboxes manage to keep empty categories hidden even in new wiki, but i'm not sure what the difference between them is. I'll see if I can tinker with it, but KLT would probably have better luck in that department. CorbeauKarasu 16:12, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I think I fixed it. The empty categories shouldn't show now and they should function exactly like chapter infoboxes while looking like character infoboxes, meaning essentially that the background should match the site background instead of being silver. Though, I had forgotten how much I dislike seeing red and yellow together, so I may change the links back to blue CorbeauKarasu 16:53, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I see, nice! By the way, is it possible to use different shades of red for normal links and redlinks? Because I, too, thought that red links looked nicer. Or would it be still too confusing? Kiadony 17:07, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

It s possible, since the button changer lets you input hexidecimal codes and there are several shades of hexidecimal red, but they're all pretty close to one another, as you'd imagine, so I think confusion would be an issue. CorbeauKarasu 17:56, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Nice job with the skin! It sure is nice to have Flamel's Crest back. I agree that the red links look better, but that also creates the broken link problem. Is there a way to change broken links to white or grey? That would stand out on the black background.--Fullmetal Fan 18:03, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

If it's possible to change the new layout, can we please bring back the recent activity box, and can we maximize this horrible squashing?

I hate how it just sits in the center of the screen, squeezing everything to the point of absurdity.

It was like this before

l PAGE l

Now it's like this

Crammed between a bunch of useless crap. The controls on this layout is what kills it. Truly. I think they designed this just to be their own wiki jerk off (notice how the biggest links don't take you anywhere on the CURRENT wiki, but rather to every other one). It's such a garbage design.

Please though, can ANYONE tell me WHERE you can view the history of the pages? I've looked everywhere and I can't find squat. I always used the history of the pages; if this new design can't even give me that much (some advanced design, huh?) then I'm switching back to Monobook.

Tommy-Vercetti 18:48, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

If you go to the top where it has the "Edited x hours ago by y" and hover over it with your mouse cursor, it will give you a list of recent edits, then just click on "View full history" and it will bring you to the history page. It's really stupid that they got rid of all the easy links up at the top.--Fullmetal Fan 20:36, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

I know, now you have to scan all over everywhere to even find any buttons.

I could live with this if it weren't so compressed in the middle. It's like, what were they thinking? It would be nice to have the option, since it completely ruins all our articles. Tommy-Vercetti 20:50, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

By the way, how about the logo? I mean, in the upper left, where it just says 'Fullmetal Alchenist' now. I believe a logo could be placed there, any chance? --Kiadony 10:13, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's possible to put a logo in. In fact, there's even a specific option for doing so. But the specifications for the old logo are no longer compatible. I think it has to be something like 250 by 65 pixels. I tried just altering the old logo's size, but after that, the file just looks completely awful. I'v learned to deal with code and stuff, but making images is something I can't do. If someone else could fabricate a copy of the old logo using the new specs or maybe make a new logo, we could put it up. CorbeauKarasu 12:57, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Editing doesn't even work

Someone else test this out for me.

Remember how you used to be able to pick sections to edit or you could just edit the entire page. Well, call me crazy but I thought the big red button with "edit" would mean edit the whole page. Everytime I click it, I get a blank screen where nothing loads.

So, does that mean this design makes it impossible to even edit the entire page? I cannot get it to work. And on pages where that's the only option (Your profile for example), nothing happens.

Great, nothing better than a wikipedia design where you CAN'T EVEN EDIT. What were they thinking? Try it for yourselves, it does not work.Tommy-Vercetti 22:59, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Just go to preferences and disable the RTE (editing tab). It will work. --Kiadony 07:05, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

On another note, you guys should check this out

This is another wikipedia I browse through, and I noticed this:

Read this. I would also totally be in favor of doing this. Tommy-Vercetti 23:07, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Lots of former Wikia wikis did that, and if we can get something like we had before and all our edits carried over, I wouldn't see anything wrong with moving.--Fullmetal Fan 00:07, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Meh, I'd stick with what we have now, or rather, after we finish working on it. I've already get used to everything here, now I actually find it convenient. --Kiadony 10:11, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, yes, it's SOOO convenient not even being able to edit full pages or your own user profiles. [/sarcasm]

Yes, it's SOOO convenient having all our articles squashed together to the point that makes them practically unreadable.

See where I'm going here?

I truly hope we can just shift everything away and use our own skin. I hate having this kind of crap thrust upon.Tommy-Vercetti 14:14, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I checked out some other wikis that switched over, and they're actually not that great. I changed my mind, I'm fine with staying here.--Fullmetal Fan 14:55, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Can you guys even edit full pages or your profiles on that new wiki style?

Everytime I try, I get taken to a black page that just never loads. It can't even edit; it ruins it.

You can't edit correctly, you can't see the articles, hell, the pictures don't even load. Wow, some great feature, huh? Upgrade? More like severe downgrade. Yes, let's stay on a glitchy site that can't even do its purpose anymore. Perfect sense, huh? I am not going to just sit by and let these retards push a design onto everyone that majority seems to hate. That's not me.--Tommy-Vercetti 15:28, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I'm done here

Monobook is basically the only version that even WORKS, even though it looks terrible. I hate wikia now, nor do I even want to be attached with a site that won't even leave and just lets them get away with it.

This site is done anyway, more or less, and I've just lost any interest I had in continuing to even check up on this place because of such horrible layouts and controls.

This was pretty much the ONLY wikipedia I was on that I even made regular contributions to. --Tommy-Vercetti 20:42, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

I've been noticing that we have lost the 'summary' description on the recent edits page. I don't know if this is a consequence of Oasis or not, because I don't think it was like this a few weeks ago. The summary still shows up if you look at the recent edits for the article you want.--Fullmetal Fan 03:11, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Is it just me, or are there a lot of images on the wiki that don't seem to be working? I've also noticed that our little logo has changed from the transmutation circle to the default Wikia 'W'. I it just me or are others seeing this?--Fullmetal Fan 03:59, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

It was acting up for me for a bit, but I think it's individual and temporary. Just the site acting weird for a while on some computers. Images weren't working for me, either, but they are now. And I didn't realize that we'd gotten our transmutation circle logo back until you said it was missing. And I can personally see it there right now. CorbeauKarasu 04:36, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, the images came back for me too, now. As for the logo, it became the W when Wikia switched over, only to go back to the transmutation circle, and then back to the W. It's back to normal now, though, so it was probably the same thing as the pictures that caused it.--Fullmetal Fan 01:35, November 16, 2010 (UTC)

New Poll

Are you kidding? This is the lamest poll I've ever seen. Can't we at least have a "None" option? Or "Other". Ugh, seriously. Tommy-Vercetti 19:15, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

I agree, that's pretty bad.--Fullmetal Fan 07:42, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

The current poll has been up since March 9. Time to retire it and set up a new one? BrokenSphere (Talk) 19:59, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

I just really hope it's not another anime-crossover poll. It should be about FMA inquires.Tommy-Vercetti 22:06, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

True - haven't seen any of the other series, but I guess 1300+ people did! O__o Isn't that nuts? BrokenSphere (Talk) 22:12, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
That's one problem, but I can't help but just groan everytime I read it. "Which partner from another series?" It reminds me of like a 12 year blog question or something. I think we can do better than that in gathering information from the FMA fanbase. And why just those three? I mean, I really want to know who wrote it too. Was it just their personal favorite animes or what?Tommy-Vercetti 22:15, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
This may have been inspired by the previous poll question, "Which manga best deserves the title of FMA's "sister series"?" which ran from January 16 to March 8. Looks like CK is the guilty party here. How about we start coming up with poll questions that are based entirely on the series? 300+ people voting over the course of 4 months is a good traffic rate which would allow for a monthly poll. If you look through the poll history you can see what was previously asked by comparing the diffs. I say let's come up with some new poll ideas! BrokenSphere (Talk) 22:30, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Remove Twitter

Can we please remove that horrendous Twitter "news" on this page?

The last thing I want to see everytime I sign in is all the dubbies from absolutely terrible wikias and their stupid little news. "IS HIeI ANd MurKUrO IN LOVe? WeVE NVEr SEn A jApANesE EpISoe In Our LIFe"

If anything, can't it at least be collapsable? It's painful beyond belief; and I wish it was never added to begin with.Tommy-Vercetti 20:49, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

Hello...??? Anything? Tommy-Vercetti 14:55, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Tommy... Just one off-topic question, how old are you? Every time something new appears or something changes, you start ranting quite aggressively, are you so impulsive in real life too? Also, I see no "stupid little news", probably due to one of my script blocking measures (I have at least three...). --kiadony 10:53, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
You mean I complain about stupid features that should never be implimented???
Twitter is a stupid fad, all I see is "blahblah, look at this stupid anime news from the other dubbie wikipedias"
That's really not what I care to see everytime I come here. Why did it need to be added? It seems that wikia chick just added it herself and it could be removed if someone wanted it to. Even a minimize feature would be great, so then everyone who wants it could have it but then I wouldn't have to see it.
There's a reason I thoughly detest 99% of wikia. Every other anime wikipedia is run by 12 year olds who only watch dubs; kill me now, or a bunch of losers who take a movie or series WAAAY too seriously; why in the hell now would I want to know what THEY'RE doing now on the one wikipedia I actually DO like? Tommy-Vercetti 15:13, April 1, 2011 (UTC)

I think you are the one taking things too seriously. The way you complain makes it look like you're really traumatized by all this; you shouldn't be. Don't waste your nerves on things like these. And by the way, the Twitter thing can only be removed by a sysop. --kiadony 17:11, April 1, 2011 (UTC)

Besides not every anime wiki is like that Tommy-Vercetti. Take the top anime: Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and Dragon Ball for example which are well structured. It all depends on the structure and the effectiveness of the people involved. I even have been helping out at the Yu Yu Hakusho wiki by working on adding in missing info, including stuff that is exclusive to the Funimation Dub only and not the original work. -Adv193 18:16, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
The YYH wikia was the first one I checked, way before even this one, and it was laughably bad. My favorite series of all time, but I thoroughly destest its dub more than anything else, but everyone loves it, and guess what? What's ALL the information on it? Dub. Names? Dub. "'""""""""Plot""""""" Dub. It barely even has a plot in english, because it's that butchered. So, in case you didn't get ALL the plot holes FUNimation added in, we made a wikipedia based solely on them.

The Dragonball one is even worse. Why is solely on the dub? Everything is just dubs.

That's why I prefer this one more than other other; it doesn't use the dub for its information.
And it sucks that twitter can't be removed, but I hate seeing that stupid news of "ThIS DSfjlskfjaf boring stupid 12 year old crap"
And, kiadony, I couldn't hardly care about your opinion, but guess what? I'm using this wikia so why can I not complain about something I don't like? If you're going to use or be on something in any part of your life, recreational or not, you should have the right to discuss it, or stupid features about it.
Tommy-Vercetti 19:06, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
Sigh. Yes, this is what I like to see. /sarcasm In any case, while you do have a right to your opinions and the right to express them, Tommy, you should probably mellow out a bit. We all take the wikia seriously, but it really seems like every little thing that goes off-center drives you to rage. I get that a lot of people are like that, but it seems really odd to me and it probably isn't healthy for you. If an edit is terrible, undo it. If a piece of added information is erroneous, remove it. You do these well, but it doesn't really require the kinds of heated commentaries you frequently tack onto them. But maybe that's a discussion best left for another time.
You make a point in stating that Twitter's just a fad. But, while I don't necessarily approve of the twitter feed, it isn't really in the way at all. it takes up a small space along a side of the page that's already littered with pointless and immovable ads and such; I find it remarkably easy to ignore and I suggest you find a way to do the same. if it becomes obtrusive, we'll take action, but it's really not worth worrying about at this point.
As for the other wikis that are getting exposure in the twitter feed, I'll agree that not all of them are up to snuff, but a decent number of them are pretty good. Their problems stem from poor writing quality and lack of adequate information, not because they use the dubs as a base. Modern dubs are much better than they used to be and, personally, I enjoy a great number of them (YYH's uncut dub is, imo, far more enjoyable than the Japanese subtitled track). It's a nice thing to share exposure, since I'm sure we get promoted on their sites as well, and I can appreciate more community between wikis. We're not in competition with each other after all. Where other anime wikis have implemented great things, we can learn and where other wikis have failed to set a decent set of standards, we can teach. Soul Eater wiki's in our league, One Piece wiki is the site I look up to, Hellsing wiki needs our help and Rurouni Kenshin wiki is a joke, far too painful to even speak about. But that doesn't mean they're not worth our notice. I think an ignorant twelve-year-old's mentality is preferable to an angry sixteen-year-old's mentality. Again, feel free to express yourself but try to mellow out a little. CorbeauKarasu 21:22, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
You know, CK, the best thing to get me to stop is to insult everything I just said. Thanks. If you or anyone else likes the dub the of YYH, then you have obviously never seen the entire thing. I'll admit, if you watch the first 26 episodes, it's better in english, but then when you get to... hmm.. THE PLOT, it's garbage; it's ruined, and it makes no sense.
You probably even like the crappy FMA:B dub too.
This kind of idiot talk just pisses me off to the nth degree. I can't go anywhere without seeing even more idiots everywhere. Flaunting exactly what gives anime fans a bad name to begin with.
I've had my fill of all this anime crap; bunch of dub losers everywhere, here included. Do whatever; watch your crappy dubs, write crappy articles, keep your twitter; do whatever the hell you want. You think I care, even a little bit?
Not anymore. I have better things to do with my life than waste it on this garbage anymore.
Tommy-Vercetti 01:32, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Just to close this up, while you Tommy-Vercetti are getting too emotional and are making accusations, I should point out that I used to be like that (During my Wikipedia days a few years ago) and while I still carry a preference for the Japanese subtitled version, I have become more tolerant towards English Dubs and only use their information like in FMA Episode 12 english dub to help make sure that information is posted since it is technically a plot difference. Even if some Wikias primarily use dub information as long as the Japanese version details in plot differences, names, and attacks are included then it would be acceptable. Besides even if twitter links are going to posted on Wikia, it is not like I am going to use them since I don't really use sites like that. I only care that that the right kinds of information are discovered and posted on any anime wiki site. -Adv193 06:40, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
One good thing (maybe the only one) about dubs is how vomit-inducingly ridiculous some are. A friend told me of a dub (I forget what it is) where the characters say "these are really good hamburgers!" when they're obviously eating sushi with chopsticks. Plus, there are some good animes that are in English, Blood: The Last Vampire (the film that Blood+ is based on) was shot mostly in English, because it take place at an American Air Force base.--Fullmetal Fan 17:17, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I simply don't come across dubs too often since they don't air anime here in Russia (or do they? I don't watch TV, actually) and subbed anime is easier to find online, not to mention dubs come much later. I can't quite understand all of this fuss going around English dubs, but I guess it *is* true that the most rabid anime fans on the Interwebs are 13 year old American boys who watch TV all day. [/sarcasm] --kiadony 18:20, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

Wiki Title

I just noticed that the formal name of the wiki is "Full Metal Alchemist Wiki" rather than "Fullmetal Alchemist Wiki". I was just wondering if something could be done about that, or if it's too late.--Fullmetal Fan 04:01, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

I also have an idea for the Wiki's name. Other wiki's have catchy names, such as "Wookieepdia" or "Narutopedia." I think that a good name for this wiki would be "Fullmetal Wiki." --Spuds31 10:55 , June 16 2011 (MST)

And look as stupid as Naruto or Star Wars geeks? No thanks. Tommy-Vercetti 16:59, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, let's at least try to make it look professional. Fullmetal Fan 17:05, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

Apparently, if you read or watch anything thats fictional, you're conisdered a geek. Pretty much the world we live in now. Anyway, It was just a suggestion. Its nice to have a catchy name for something. Instead of calling it "guy with metal arm and leg that can change things" they called him the "Fullmetal Alchemist." Spuds31 11:13 , June 16, 2011 (MST)

Not at all, I love Fullmetal Alchemist, which is why I'm here and several other good series. Star Wars is a good THREE movies, but I've seen the "Wookiepedia" and it's the most ravenous fantard rambling I've ever had the misfortune of even skimming. And Naruto... the less we say about that overrated stinking piece of garbage, the better.Tommy-Vercetti 17:38, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

So are you against the name or the other Wiki's? ~^v~Spuds31~^v~ 14:49, June 16, 2011 (MST)

I've already discussed this. Other wikias are garbage. Either the ones about anime are all run by people who have only seen dubs, no thanks. And then you have the flip side, bare content with horrendous spelling or overly inflated content that never needed to be written down. I like this place because 1. The people here know how to spell, aren't solely dub fans 2. It's well organized and 3. I like Fullmetal Alchemist, and this is about the only wikia of an anime I do like that isn't terrible beyond belief.Tommy-Vercetti 22:02, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

Not to mention that all these wiki names are pretty terrible. At least "Wookiepedia" is clever, the rest are just the name of the anime with a "pedia" suffix. Fullmetal Fan 22:11, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

I like Wookieepedia. But you don't think 'Fullmetal Wiki' is clever? Spuds31 20:20, June 16, 2011 (MST)

It's an interesting idea, but it wouldn't benefit us, really. We're already Fullmetal Alchemist Wiki and the term Fullmetal can also refer to other franchises, so it would only cause confusion. Cute names work for some, but it won't work for us. Thanks for the enthusiasm, though. CorbeauKarasu 03:00, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

I really think we should start adding references, at least to quotes. We don't need to do every quote on the wiki, just add a reference if you stumble across a quote without one. The anime won't be hard, we can just say which anime and episode the quote comes from, but we need to think up something for the manga. I'm thinking something like (I, i, 1) where the capital Roman numeral is the chapter number, the lower-case Roman numeral is the volume number, and the number is the page (I got the idea from the way Shakespeare is quoted). The chapter and volume parts can be switched around, but I feel the chapter is the important part, and the volume number is more of a guide to be able to find the chapter. This is because the story was originally written as chapters, then put together in the volumes. I did it on the Ishvalan page for the line about the concentration camps. Also, if someone know how to fix that big space that appeared in the middle of the reference, I would appreciate it. Fullmetal Fan 05:41, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Awesome new choice :-!

So, if it's a lot of yeses can we? Oh, I'd give anything to remove that eyesore.Tommy-Vercetti 13:30, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

I still don't see anything besides the Twitter button and "Loading..." >.> Must be my script blockers at their best. --kiadony 11:55, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I envy you for that as well. Tommy-Vercetti 13:06, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
Heh, well, to get some script blockers, you don't even need to "give anything". Just google them and download ;-) --kiadony 13:28, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I'd still rather we remove it. The fact that 99% of every anime wikia is solely steeped in dubs and to have our site linked to that is just embarassing in every sense of the word to me.Tommy-Vercetti 14:06, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I started the vote because, personaly, it has nothing to do with FMA; so why should it be on our main page. I was on the White Collar Wiki and they have their own @WhiteCollarWiki Twitter. Maybe that would be a more appropriate twitter than just the general AnimeWiki Twitter. ~KingLinkTiger
That's a good idea. Do we have our own Twitter page? I don't use it so I wouldn't know. I'm sure there's a Fullmetal Alchemist Twitter feed too if we want to use that. Fullmetal Fan 03:12, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
Did not see an official FMA twitter feed on the official websites. Someone would need to set up a twitter account for the wiki and post to it periodically if there is a perceived need to do so (and I'm not volunteering). BrokenSphere (Talk) 03:37, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

On a related note, is there a way to change the colour of the bars on the poll? Right now they're white, and the text is light grey, which makes it almost impossible to see without hi-lighting it. Fullmetal Fan 03:12, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with that; it should really be another color if possible. Tommy-Vercetti 18:28, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

I removed the Twitter feed due to 70% of the votes to remove it. Also I am working on changing the color of the poll. It is going to take some time since Wikia does not allow you to change any style options anymore. ~KingLinkTiger

It's awesome, KingLingTiger. I was so happy to see it gone. We should probably just make a new poll now, right? It's not even relevant anymore.Tommy-Vercetti 16:36, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

I've created numerous policy pages (see Category:Rules and Policies) lately as events concerning them have arisen, but have yet to see any discussion regarding them. If people agree that's fine, but as a community I feel we should tweak our policy to best fit what the majority of users think it should be. Right now it's just my thoughts as to what we should be doing. I've tried to write them from a a non-biased perspective but there's only so much I can do myself in that regard. Fullmetal Fan 05:38, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

You know, I was thinking about changing that top bar menu thingy next to the logo (aka Wiki navigation), because I'm not a big fan of how it's arranged now (Characters, Episodes, Merchandise, Community). Community portal is empty, forums and blogs are inactive and the list of admins doesn't really matter (if needed, might link it from the welcome message, for example), and the fact that episodes are there but not chapters seems wrong. Since we have a category for policies, we could work it into my master plan, so what about "Characters", "Franchise" (see the category, it includes Merchandise anyway) and "Rules and Policies" for the new menu? --kiadony --talk to me-- 07:01, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Possible edits?

Im a fan of Anime Wikis. And I edit on many, even started some. But this Wiki is terrible. I've been using it for a while for projects i've been working on, and I looked across alot of pages. Alot of them are missing information. The ability section is such a clutter, look at the Bleach or Naruto, DC or Marvel Wikis. Every anime wikia I look at, organizes the Abilities section. They need to be organized a certain way. Most of the pages are cluttered like this in many parts, its not just the Abilites in some cases. They abilitys should be organized and explained, like sections for regeneration, immortality, Alchemy, Strength, Speed, Skills, idk. But does anyone else think I have a point? Sorry if I said anything sounding rude/mean. Skarrj 04:07, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

Also, couldn't we add a weapons/equipment section? Skarrj 04:28, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

I disagree, thanks. If you mean we should devolve our "Abilities" sections into simple lists, then I think that's just kind of lazy. Unlike a lot of series, Fullmetal Alchemist isn't actually based on separate superpowers, so most characters' skills can't be broken down by all the criteria you mentioned; each character's abilities are collective parts of their personas and are, therefore, described in paragraph form rather than in bulleted lists. The intent here is to create a more comprehensive profile for each character with links to other pages where even more comprehensive information can be found. If you want to know more about a character, don't skim over a list - read. Read, read, read. We're still working on pages that lack information, like chapter synopses and the history sections of character pages, but the set-up we have for personality and ability breakdowns is exactly how it needs to be. Not everyone has specific weapons or equipment and, if they do, it's already described in their Appearance or Abilities section. We don't adopt ineffective practices here just because "that's what other wikis are doing". CorbeauKarasu 12:50, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

...Did I read that correctly? Someone thinks BLEACH and NARUTO wikipedias are better than ours? Wow, if anyone really believes that, I am glad to see you go.

I would never subject myself to either one of those awful wikipedias, but I've been to enough other ones with series I used to like, and it's always like follows:

If you don't like it here, I couldn't care less in all honesty. Like CK said, FMA isn't about "powers" or fights; it's a lot more than just that, and personally, I think this wikipedia is probably the best written and the most up-to-date regarding any possible information. That second comment blew my mind. "Not enough information"? I've learned more from this wikipedia than I have reading the manga, so I have no clue what you're even going off about.Tommy-Vercetti 13:21, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

For starters, I just meant they have the abilitys more organized, have pictures of the abilitys and other information that could be important. Most characters don't even have an abilities section on this pages. And I personaly think Bleach and Naruto dont even compare to FMA: Brotherhood. Their Wikias are more organized though. But most pages here are small, sorry to say that, not trying to be rude in anyway. I wouldn't comment just to make people mad or strike arguments. And no need to bash other Wikia, thats just rude. People put work into them also, would be rude if everyone went around calling other things shitty.

Even if FMA isnt all about "powers" or "fights", they still should be as good as they can be made, as organized as possible. I'm working on a project(FMA Game) and the abilities section is a nice help for it. I also enjoy to read over the abilities of the characters just because. I think they could be upgraded a little more and maby the weapons the characters use added. Im not asking for a copy of other Wiki. But alot of characters do not have one even, this could be easily fixed. And alot of abilities sections only have a single paragraph, cmon, there could easily be more. And I was just asking if people thought I had any point. This is the only Wikia where people have gotten over a post i've made. I only have best intentions in mind. Skarrj 04:19, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I see. You're working on an FMA-based game, so you want stats. I'm afraid you'll have to wing it, then because, again, FMA doesn't work like that. There are no special, named weapons or attacks; there are no strength, speed, alchemy stats or power levels. There's nothing wrong with series that do have those, but FMA is not one of them. It would kind of be like asking for battle stats in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Just because other sites are differently organized does not mean that they are better organized. Admittedly, a good number of pages are not done and still need work in organization, but characters like Edward, Alphonse, Winry, Roy, Ling and Riza all have Abilities sections that are finished and "as good as they can be made". We took a lot of effort to make them as informative as necessary while keeping them succinct; longer isn't always better or even more informative. There is no "specific alchemy move" or "speed-enhancing alchemy" and skills that are common to everyone in a certain group - like the Homunculi's regenerative powers - are discussed on the page for that group and not on individual character pages unless they differentiate in some significant way. We put a lot more emphasis on Personality sections, because that's where the characters really differentiate from each other. You want us to add weapons, but what weapons? There's Ling's sword (which is described), Riza's guns (which are described) and Hughes' push-knives (which are described); everything else is automail or some kind of alchemy and both those topics have their own pages. CorbeauKarasu 12:26, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

Dude, why didn't you just say that? "I want to work on a fighting game", instead of insulting the wikipedia? Geez...Tommy-Vercetti 13:24, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

Featured Article

First I just want to say this. Thank you to whoever updates the Featured Article every now and again. It is always nice to see something new when I come here.

Second, I believe we should formulate some way of ranking and voting on future Featured Articles. Maybe take a quick vote here on the talk page. Then after sometime we will update the main page with the ones suggested.

KingLinkTiger 22:43, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

I think CK is the one who chooses most if not all of the featured articles, so thank him. I also like the idea of voting for a new article, I'm just wondering how we would do it. Maybe we could have a section here that we would use to discuss it. Each time we decided we needed a new article, we could either delete or keep the prior discussion (I could change the policy to allow us to delete that if that's what we decide), or just keep all the old discussion there indefinitely. It's probably something we should talk about. Fullmetal Fan 07:47, December 1, 2011 (UTC)
We could probably make a list of potential future featured articles (on the talkpage) so we don't have to check if the article had been featured before. And then have the discussion/vote every once in a while, but not too often, since we don't have that many articles >.> --kiadony --talk to me-- 11:12, December 1, 2011 (UTC)
I was think more along Kiadony's way but either way works. We could literally make a poll that people can go and vote for the one they think should be featured. KingLinkTiger 17:48, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

I really wish there was a "Neither" option on the new poll. But, at least the 2003 dub had decent acting; the 2009 dub is one of the worst dubs I have ever seen in my life.Tommy-Vercetti 15:58, January 4, 2012 (UTC)

Well, the poll does not ask whether you like the dubs or not. You just said that you think that 2003 anime dub was better, so even if they're both bad, you can still pick a better one. We can make the next poll which will ask people whether they prefer subs or dubs or their opinion on the dub. Oh, and I guess anyone can edit the poll template (Template:Poll), correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not getting any notifications. --kiadony --talk to me-- 18:27, January 4, 2012 (UTC)
I went and changed the permissions on the Poll page. Thank you for pointing it out Kiadony. KingLinkTiger 04:47, January 13, 2012 (UTC)
Vercetty, u really think that 2009 dub is one of the worst dubs?! i understand that u prefer the kimblee's japanese voice, the chimera's too because the effect that they used and maybe the Edward's (once it's Paku Romi and she is amazing) but the rest of characters they did a great work on the dub. I can't believe that there is people that prefer the japanese voice of Roy, the 2nd greed's (It's Troy Baker man), the King Bradley's (that accent fits the character) and the japanese voice of other soldiers (even the background's ones). An animation that talks about a european military fits better the english voices (in the japanese there isn't expressions that we are accustomed to hear).

But that's okay I accept your opinion, I was just surprised that u said that, nothing more. JPPCouto 14:45, January 13, 2013 (GMT+0)

Okay ^_^ It's not like it has ever been vandalized though. --kiadony --talk to me-- 16:59, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Is there any way we could restrict/forbid the creations of new categories and stablish the ones we're going to use? Cause it's always an issue, people putting useless categories to things, such as "male", and making several tags that, sincerally, are just clutching the visuals of the Wikia. Turdaewen 14:38, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

I agree, the amount of categories should be kept to minimum. Is there some way to remove the useless ones without having to remove them from each page that have them? I often can't go and edit many pages at once or in a row because Wikia starts lagging too quickly for me. --kiadony --talk to me-- 17:04, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Stub articles

While looking through the wiki, I noticed a few stubs on the chapter pages. I considered writing the description myself, but I didn't know if that was okay, just in case it's not up to standard... Would it be okay if I destubified them? EvieHedgehog 19:47, February 24, 2012 (UTC)

If you, or any of the other members, find an article that they consider to be a stub please insert the stub template to signify this so that an author can go and expand on the concepts in the article. KingLinkTiger 22:15, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

Search Results

Why is it that searching for something doesn't take you straight to that page any more? For example, if I type "Edward Elric" into the search box it doesn't take me to the Edward Elric page, it takes me to list of pages with "Edward Elric" in the title. Is this some new feature that Wikia seems to think is an improvement or did I accidentally change my settings and make it happen? Fullmetal Fan 21:53, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

This like this is wikia thing and personally I find it a bit unpleasant. -Adv193 22:47, May 5, 2012 (UTC)
I've noticed it as well; maybe it has something to do with the constant 'matience' thing as well. Tommy-Vercetti 00:02, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
I believe that these search errors are due to WIKIA and not anything that we can control. As suggested a long time ago, with enough backing, we could create our own separate wiki like one of the wikis did so that they could gain more control over the theme and content of their site. I'm not sure if that many of you are intrested in this but I have the ability to do this, I would just need to see a backing in the community before we progressed because it would involve rewriting most of the articles, or copy/paste, whatever the author's preference is. KingLinkTiger 22:14, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

I recently had the time to sit down and watch the new series Brotherhood, and I found myself coming back to the wiki here reading up on various characters, events, battles, etc. While reading I found it difficult to find out what was about the 2009 Anime, the Manga, or the 2003 Anime. On most pages I found that the main body of the page is about the 2003 Anime and there is then a subsection dedicated to the 2009/Manga. This works for me but it is not on all of the pages thus it is difficult to get the right information when the information is all over the page. I suggest that we start a cleanup team to go through the wiki and try and standardize as much of the wiki as we can. In the best scenario I would love to have a seperate section for the 2003 anime and the main body of the page give just general information about the character that covers all of the amines and manga.

I plan on helping out some more here and adding details that I feel I can add after watching the entire series. I hope to be able to create some new templates for 2003 Anime Exclusive, 2009 Anime Exclusive, and Manga Exclusive characters. I've never read the manga so I'm not sure if they have exclusive characters anymore but I can make the templates anyway.

Geez, I feel bad this is like my first edit here... But anyway. It occured to me: If someone starts roleplaying on other Canon Wikis, they usually have a link to a Roleplaying Wikia on that particular subject. So I was wondering, perhaps you could put the Goat City Wiki on the front page, and send people there if they start annoying everyone else with roleplay. I'm not trying to advertise; I'm wondering if perhaps you could add Goat City to the main page as an affliate. 6dfe15e28d05a9b981284ad333feb66c-1-.gif Wow-Wow-Wow-wow Wiggle.gif 18:27, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

Page count

Okay, seriously, what's going on? Just yesterday, we had 665 pages, and now it's up to 681. I have not seen anything in the activity box or recent edits, so how did these numerous new pages appear? They must be spam too, right? What's going on? Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 19:36, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

That's really weird. If I look at the list of new pages we've had less than ten added since the end of May, so I don't know why the counter went up by nearly twenty overnight. My guess is that it's a glitch of some sort, either the site is over-counting the pages, or it was under-counting the pages before and is just making up for it now. Talk Bubbles

Why don't we have Talk Bubbles on this wiki? CloudStrifeACC 02:38, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

What do you mean by 'talk bubbles?' Fullmetal Fan 05:03, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Is this a common feature from wikia? I've never heard of them either. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 13:54, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

I have seen them in a quite number of wikis. They are as the name implies talk bubbles that carry messages along with selective avatars. Here is a sample of my talk bubble from Final Fantasy Wikia. I'm sure they will be an interesting addition to our wiki.CloudStrifeACC 17:12, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah... I find those nothing but pointless... Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 21:59, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, those things. To me they seem to just take up extra space with no real benefits. Fullmetal Fan 23:13, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Have it your way. I was only making a suggestion. I don't think famous wikis would keep it if they were that worthless. CloudStrifeACC 19:13, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

"Famous" and good taste don't always go together you know. Take that kind of backwards "logic" elsewhere. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 20:29, September 7, 2012 (UTC)

All I did was make a suggestion and here comes the barrage of comments from disrespectful fellows....I've backed off from my idea, and I'm still being crucified as if I've murdered someone. I thought wikia's title says 'Contribute and collaborate' but I see now it works the other ways. Anyway, I'm gonna erase this topic from history couz I've got better things to do than to beat the flies on someone else idea. I apologize to others who have to see this. When I made the suggestion, I really had no malicious intents of harming someone. I just thought that people enjoy making their own avatars ,so I made the 'big bad mistake' of suggesting.CloudStrifeACC 16:51, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Listen. Originally you wrote "I just thought I'd ask" as a finisher to this topic, to which everyone else who read it (myself included) was like "Okay" and we didn't reply. Only yesterday did you feel the need to edit it AGAIN for some reason to include that stupid logic of "Well, popular ones are doing it, so what's your excuse?" kind of thing. So, if you didn't want an equally patronizing reply back, you shouldn't have altered it to begin with and revived the topic, especially in such a pretentious way. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 19:39, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

What you keep an eye on everything everyone does here? Who are you anyway? A supervisor or such? And you've got it all wrong with the editing part, if you think I'm lying then go ahead and check the histtory yourself to find the truth. My orignial message included a sentence which I found to be excess and illogical with the whole message. So I deleted it. I DID NOT add anything, I just deleted an extra phrase. Begin your sentences with 'me' not 'we' couz I feel you're the only one who has an unknown problem with me. Now if you wanna continue arguing be my guest but take it somewhere else couz this page is for discussion not argument. CloudStrifeACC 12:29, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Should we change the poll now?

The topic says it all. And is there some kind of protocol I need to follow to do that?CloudStrifeACC 12:44, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

yeah, I agree that we should change that (I think that everyone had already notice here in FMA wikia that my english is very simple: that's because I'm portuguese). JPPCouto 16:38, October 8, 2012

Non-responsive scripts?

Hey, everyone, I thought I'd ask others this, because I'm curious myself.

I've noticed that on wikia in general (meaning, not just here), that something has changed regarding how the pages are set up. Before, I used to constantly use my right mouse button to open additional tabs at once, spellcheck, etc, but now I find that whenever I do that, my browser (Firefox) freezes up (almost like it's going to crash) and I get a warning of "unresponsive script". Only after you stop it, then it works fine. Usually this is only a problem with pages that are extremely overcrowded or when my computer is busy doing other things and I try to open a webpage. So, once again, surprise surprise, wikia screwed up. I'm just wondering if anyone else gets a slower experience doing a right mouse click or not. But, just from doing that, the entire page freezes up for a good 10 seconds. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 16:23, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

Nothing from me. I did have problems with Firefox before, but it was ultimately due to Flash. To see if it is flash open up Task Manager go to Processes and look for plugin-container.exe. This is Firefox's containers for things like flash and your addons. Kill the process and see if it becomes responsive again. If it does then I suggest you donwgrade flash to Flash 10.0. ~KingLinkTiger~Talk~Contribs~

About "List of Characters" page

Hello... I think we should improve the page mentioned in the heading, because much space is wasted and only one portion of each line is used.

I have some proposals for the change, based on observations I made upon other anime Wikis:

1)Use the "One Piece style", which implies the use of a table to sort the characters in alphabetical order, mentioning  the year of his/her first apperance in the manga), and if the character is anime or video game -only, use a separate table.

2)The "Fairy Tail style", which deals with the use of images in order to allow an easier identify of the characters and sorting them according to their factions.

I am looking for your response. Thanks.Norman Fong Ochoa (talk) 04:35, December 5, 2012 (UTC)

Will there ever be a sequel to the Brotherhood? I wish the manga could have continued so that we could find out what Ed & Al see on their travels, what Ed makes of himself now that he can no longer use alchemy, if there is a way for him to re-build his gate of the relationships develop between Ed and Winry (we know they have a family together but what happens between their confessions at the train station leading up to the point of marriage), what about Alphonse and May Chang (even though the photo at the end implies they got together), Colenel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye, Ling and Lan Fan? So many things left unsaid, so much speculation....If only Hiromu Arakawa would write a sequel but then again that's completely upto her... 13:40, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

Unecessary sequels are the best way to murder a franchise. Why do you NEED to see it? Arakwawa explained perfectly well what was going to happen to each of them, and we've spent the whole story up until now getting to know these people. That's all you need. You get where they're going, you get who they are as people; with only a hint in proper direction, your imagination can fill in the rest.

And that's another reason too, if it was actually SHOWN, most everyone would probably be like "Hmm... well that was disappointing from what I was imagining." Arakawa could never meet expectation, which is why it ends where it ends.

The story isn't "Watch Edward live until the day he dies"; it was about Alchemy and Amestris, with the Elrics taking center stage around it. Story over, they move on, and it's not necessary to see more.

By the way, I hate notions of "Is there a way to rebuild his Truth?" that kind of cop out writing. A good writer understands one thing: You make sacrifices, you gotta learn to live with them. You can't just undo something that was meant to be a huge event, because it cheapens it and renders the entire thing null.Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 14:19, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

Relevant Works

In an effort to expand the wiki and give us something to do now that there's probably no more FMA content in the foreseeable future, how about we start making pages for Arakawa's other manga that are relevant in some way to Fullmetal Alchemist? Ones that she used for character designs, and such. --DARK 01:55, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Why? There's still lots to do on FMA that still is incomplete. And after that, it'll be here, the FMA encyclopedia. Why does it need to be anything more?Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 02:54, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

As far as I can see, the information we have now is about as complete as it will ever be. What is there that isn't complete? My thinking is that, since quite a few elements from Fullmetal Alchemist are borrowed from her previous manga, we could create pages for them here. It increases our content and provides a reference for them, as well, since there really isn't anywhere they're represented on the internet. --DARK 21:52, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Browse through the manga chapters; notice how many are still entirely blank? That's what I'm meaning that isn't done.

You know, I see you're from stuff like the DBZ wiki and all these other laughable shonen shows that HAVE TO keep going on, because the idea of stopping does not compute to them, but I see literally nothing wrong with finishing it all, polishing it, and then, bam, mission accomplished. The complete FMA dictionary is here; whether it's relevant or active at all.

Think of it another way; if there's a really good movie; I'm content with it just being that one single good movie, but yet so many people (who I assume think like you) need to have a sequel so it can keep going, because they can't let it end. Why? It just cheapens it and overbloats it.

Sorry, but I don't agree with your way of thinking, at all. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 19:53, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

New Poll

People we need to change the poll! What if we did one about favorite openings or endings? We already did a poll like that? JPPCouto 17:26, April 3, 2013 (GMT+0)

The problem is we don't have anyone active, nor do we have any real process to create a poll. If you have an idea for a poll I can change it, but I just don't have any ideas. KingLinkTiger

Ugh... I really really hate it when polls talk about other anime series. There's like so few good shonen animes... like... none of these are even worth voting for.

It's incredibly laughable to me as well that whoever made this poll wrote "DARK FANTASY" when describing both Chrono Crusade and Soul Eater... I guess that person's never read or seen an actual dark fantasy manga/anime before. Like Berserk. Read that, then tell me Soul Eater is Dark Fantasy. Anything shonen lacks a lot of grit that a DARK-anything genre usually entails. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 13:45, April 17, 2013 (UTC)

Without doubt that D. Grayman is the manga with most similarities that I know. But Pandora Hearts got some resemblances too. Obviously, the mangaka of D.grayman read/watched FMA, look that links:

JPPCouto 00:09, April 19, 2013 (GMT+0)

I really used to think that D.Gray-Man is so like FMA. But once you get through the first season, the things take a rough turn. The story gets stuck and 'really' weird stuff starts happening. But the worst part is some characters designs change dramatically from best to worst. ex:(Allen Walker, Lenalee). The similarities diminish as both the storylines progress .I don't think I can vote for it in this case... By the way which anime are we actually comparing? FMA (2003) or FMA: Brotherhood.

CloudStrifeACC 11:34, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Who already notice the similarities between FMA and Attack on Titan?

Gap in the story!

Scar's Tattoo's

Hi I understand this is the talk page but I was wondering if we could discuss something. I noticed something that I'm sure everyone caught on to right away but in the episode when scar fights wrath on the promised day beneath amestris he uses his (is it left?) arm for construction against one of Wrath's impending attacks. So he uses construction alchemy which is against the teachings of Ishvala, and reveals a tattoo on that arm showing that it is used for construction alchemy. Now that's what messed me up where did he get that tattoo? In the 520 cens promise after he captures Dr. Marcoh you'll notice that while the are chatting in the alley he has no construction tattoo on his right arm! Now I watched the episodes in the japanese translated to english subtitles in the episode he's fighting Wrath on the promised day and it doesn't really mention where he got that tattoo but he does mention it's the alchemy he learned from his brother. To me it's a small gap in the story line I would think would be pretty important to explain! If anyone has watched the english versions please let me know if they give at least some hint or clue to where he got the tattoo! Thx again! 17:27, June 16, 2013 (UTC) Caleb ;)

You really shouldn't read FMA if you can't be expected to put story pieces together WITHOUT the author telling you to. It was explained too, so I guess you missed that even. When Scar left the group with Marcoh, that's when he got it. He and Marcoh both recreated it and Marcoh tattooed it on. So in that lapse of Scar leaving after the whole Kimblee thing and then him returning to Reole; in that timeframe is where he got tattooed. He just didn't opt to use it until his battle with Wrath.

Pay more attention next time. Tommy-Vercetti (talk) 14:22, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

Attack on Titans

I don't know if somebody already noticed but Attack on titans is basically a rip off of fma at least in these two characters. Unfortunally, they have much more in common beside this. JPPCouto
