Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy (鋼の錬金術師 デュアルシンパシー Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Dyuaru Shinpashī?) is the first Fullmetal Alchemist video game for the Nintendo DS portable game console. The game follows the story of 2003 anime with Edward as its protagonist.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay is pretty simple. The player can use either physical or alchemical/special attacks. The physical attack consists of combo of three hits. Alchemical attacks are more diversified. The player can either transmute an object for offense or a wall for defense. At certain points of the game different objects also appear to transmute. The player can collect white orbs which are converted into Flamel signs on the tap screen. Once the player collects enough Flamel signs a special attack can be unleashed depending upon the type alchemy being used. The player can also choose between different character alchemical powers to use from the tap screen. At several parts

of the game player needs to draw a transmutation circle in a limited time to progress.

Dual Sympathy also features many bonuses such as a second gameplay mode called Character Mode, which allows the player to replay the story with other characters; and also play a variety of minigames, and an alarm clock mode using voices from the series.


Characters[]

The game has 6 playable characters: Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Alex Louis Armstrong, Izumi Curtis, Scar and Roy Mustang.

Edward Elric is the only available character in the story mode. After the game is completed, the character mode is unlocked and Alphonse Elric, Roy Mustang, Izumi Curtis, Alex Louis Armstrong, and Scar become playable.

When playing as Mustang, Riza Hawkeye accompanies the player. When playing as Armstrong, the companion is Lieutenant Colonel Hughes. When playing as Izumi or Alphonse, Edward Elric accompanies the player. When playing as Scar, it is Alphonse who accompanies him.
