This list contains characters from the original manga, with almost all of them being adapted to the 2009 anime. In addition, a number of these characters appeared in the 2003 anime as well (namely most of the manga characters introduced before Chapter 40, as Chapter 39 was the latest chapter released prior to the end of the 2003 anime's run).
